Words I wish I had never learned
Top of the list is terremotato. It means affected by an earthquake and it means that what I am about to see or read will make me cry. Today it was dead children and homeless animals looking for mom or dad.
Diet. Hateful word, especially when you’ve been looking it in the eye for months with not stupendous results.
Baggage is a word I sort of like when it is used in a comic novel to describe a trampy girl, but when it lies yawning and empty and must be filled with things one can actually put on oneself (you did read the paragraph about diet?) I hate it. I will fill both bags with cheese, pasta and truffled things.
The rest of everything is arranging the forward motion of life while I am away, cleaning out the fridge– soup is a good word– and wondering when mornings will be warm enough to properly dry “tan in a tube”. You know you aren’t supposed to put on clothes until it’s really dry.
I haven’t been cooking. I haven’t been visiting. I haven’t been having any fun at all. Bleaugh.
You will be cooking, visiting, and having fun SOON!
I also hate the D word. Trying to think of it as “Healthy” is better than “diet”.
Diet = Deprivation
Hopefully, “healthier” = “thinner”!

I now own the ugliest skirt anyone has ever seen.
The twin to your skirt lives in my closet, but it won’t close any more. That darn D word. At least it seems that you know how to pack intelligently! Buon viaggio…
Thanks. Did you buy yours in a shop full of boring clothes too? Who knew they even had such things in Italy? (Anyone who was looking at their friends’ mothers, I think. Must be more alert.)
As Palma said, you’ll be doing all of those things very soon…enjoy :)

Don’t forget tendopoli.
I also hate packing. But then to get to the fun places, you must go through the “getting there” part. Have fun!
