One hundred and nine
January 22nd, 2007

That is how many days I have sat down to the computer and typed in something to say to you. If I had exercised instead every one of those days I would be able to climb the mountain across the street without puffing. If I had cooked something fattening, I wouldn’t be able to cross the street to get to the mountain. If I had studied Italian at a higher level, I would be able to talk to Italian scientists and musicians. If I had opened a bottle of prosecco and sipped it away, I wouldn’t be able to type in English, let alone in Italian.
One hundred and nine posts. One hundred and nine days.
I don’t regret a single one. Thanks for reading.

Thank you for writing them all. I really enjoy dipping into your archives when your internet connection prevents new posts.
(I find that a bottle of prosecco tends to help both my English and my Italian)

A whole bottle! Omigawd! A glass or two always oiled my Italian in the old US days, but a bottle of anything doesn’t do anything positive….

I just hope there will be at least 10,900 more! I may not always agree with something you’ve said, but I always admire the candor and wit with which you say it.

Judith,
Keep writing! I look forward to the Lent diet recipes. I will dream of the lobster stew, and behave myself. Your chocolate silk was lovely, especially the chili spun sugar!

What a delicious wee post :) I was smiling as I reached the end of it …
Better I don’t think about how long I’ve been in Belgium and what level my Dutch might have reached had a persevered and what it would be like to have a walkers bum as opposed to a bloggers bum … sigh.

Keep writing, keep cooking, and I’ll keep reading and drooling (and occasionally cooking too). I like reading your blog because it’s like being in the kitchen (or the town) in your delightful company again.

And we could make gnocchi together again! With goose this time? I was preparing a real favorite yesterday, only to find that I had not one live battery. Charging now.
