Not Julia

August 28th, 2007

One of the ways I would prefer to be seen when cooking and serving.

But sometimes I look like this.

That is truffle sauce on me– all over me.

The consolation is this.

Buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and great olive oil.

    judith!

I think that having food on your apron is a sign of the best cook. only people on television and people who want to be perfect worry about food stains. The rest of us? We\’re just reveling in the food.

Can you email me? After reading your comments on David\’s site for over a year, I would love to meet you when my husband (the Chef) and I are going to be in Umbria. in two weeks! But when I try to connect to your email function, it won\’t let me. I\’d love to chat.

Never trust a clean cook, I say. You look smashing in both photos–even more so than the mozzarella and gang, and that’s saying something….

You look kinda bicepy in that first picture — you been working out?

Blushing, you all are too sweet. I think I tend to look like Mel of Mel\’s Diner in summer. It\’s too hot to wear a tunic but I want to look sterile-clean, so I wear bleachable white tops and trousers– just like Mel.

eg, that lamb and wooden board weighs a lot, plus I am finishing up 6 hours in 100+ F cucina. Even you might look bicepy in the circumstances.

Complimenti on the nice wine glasses. Nice wine for me HAS to be in a nice glass.

Thanks, but those aren’t mine. Mine are even prettier!
These photos are me being chef at a villa, not home cooking.

The food looks great! But, I wouldn\’t worry about the food stains, that\’s what aprons are for, aren\’t they? Besides, if the food tastes good, that\’s all that matters. And, I\’m sure it was delicious!

Hmmmm, I suspect it is a bit different when you are being paid to cook! I think you have try to look clean, clean, clean. At home, I wear whatever I like, including evening gowns I’d otherwise never get to wear.
