Made in America: Bread and Butter Pickles

May 2nd, 2008

Judy Witts, the American cook that Italians respect, has posted this week’s recipe for La Buona Cucina Americana. I think it would be just amazing if everybody made pickles this year.

Uhh, Judy? When I made dill pickles I had to grow my own pickling cucumbers. Where are you getting yours?

I found some nice english cucumbers, since they are sliced it really doesn\’t matter!

    any cucumber works.

and really for mine I just do vinegar and sugar with cloves.
Keeping it simple, but wanted to post the ORIGINAL RECIPE, and not mess with it.

I don\’t need my pickles to be yellow from tumeric!
or too flavorful! and I don\’t like the little seeds in my mouth!

But pickles are a fun food, light and fresh and so easy to make.
    Makes great gifts!
