How, why and who? Bloggers want to know.

Questions to you:

How did you get here? If you are one of those I wrestled to the floor and held down until you promised to visit, you don’t really need to share that. How do you find other blogs?

Why do you return to blogs that you read? Why do you subscribe?

Who are you? Not what it says on your passport or license, but what kind of reader are you?

Answers from me:

How do I figure out what to write? Partly by what interests me, partly from what interests you, as demonstrated by search terms used that found me. Example below:

reheatable vegetables dishes 6
hog jowls 3
CORAL,GEM 2
Bernard Willhelm 2
getting old fable 1
Summer 2008 Style 1
pasta sauce with ham 1
Beef Ragu 1
tomatoes on the floor 1
preserving+methods+dried+pasta 1

That was yesterday. Other days, other terms. Some astounding.

Links out, although some are not to be understood. I’m wondering what the seeker after certain key words will think when he arrives here and sees Prosciutto as a topic.
Conversations in real life.

Why do I blog? Because I need someone to listen to me! OK, maybe that’s lame, but mostly because I need to write and to blog you must write.

Who do I read? The people on the right in the blogroll and links, as well as a bunch of things I have on Blog Lines that aren’t necessarily pertinent to this blog but add to my general fund of knowledge (and sometimes misinformation, too.)

Half the time I don\’t know how I end up a certain sites. usually starts when I am searching for something in Google. When my husband went to Italy to visit his aunts, I did a search for something and ended up on an Italian expat blog. I thought, how cool! I looked at the blogroll/links for other Italian expat blogs on that site, and from there ended up at many wonderful blogs that I visit whenever a new post is made. I have the blogs feeds bookmarked in Safari.
I read them because they are interesting and fun to read. I also learn a lot of stuff that I tell my honey…haha
I told him about the strikes, the weather, all the news that is posted, the health care system (good and bad), the post office situation (mostly bad), having to pay the deliverer for packages sent to you. (is this bribe money or what!)
So when honey says all is good in Italy, I have to tell him I have read otherwise…haha
You have to take the bad with the good, it is that way everywhere.
My husband was born in Italy (Pratola Peligna) and my daughter\’s husband was also born in Italy (Calabria) so it is fun to give them info on what is happening there.

Hi Loraine. It isn’t really bribe money but customs and IVA, however they apply it to things they shouldn’t apply it to. Like used things and cultural objects, which are supposed to be customs free. However, the poste apply a fee for the “service” of charging you, and in the case of a box of used paperback books, just that fee can be more than the books are worth.
They once tried to charge me on a package coming from the UK, which is absolutely forbidden! I just said no, and asked for the name of the superior who was ignorant enough not to know that the UK was part of the EU. The post guy couldn’t get out of my doorway fast enough.

You didn’t need to wrestle me to the floor! But then again I know you so my reading your blog is no surprise.

I read a few other blogs, some that I’ve found through yours. One that like is one that you’ve mentionned, Ideas in Food. And I’ve also followed a link to another chef blog, StudioKitchen by Shola Olunloyo. Ideas in food is more useful and inspirational, StudioKitchen is just visual delight (but might be bad for slow connections).

you ask…i tell…

i came via sognatrice (& i don\’t remember how i found her…but it is a small world~~ she & my husband grew up one town apart!) & i keep coming back because i enjoy your food & your wit.

how do i find blogs??? not a clue…my reading trails are very obscure, even to me…one thing leads to another. links in the sidebar of a blog i like are a possibility. why do i return? food, italy & wit being a big draw for me… i come for a peek into the world of others that is well-written & not in my backyard~~ recipes & food tips are a big plus.

my heart travels every single day thanks to blogs like yours! i am looking forward to april & another adventure!

Judith, I found your blog through expats. I return regularly to hear your \

This is all very interesting to me, but I do seem to recall wrestling Snowpea to the ground!

Part of the reason I ask is because I am tossing out some of my list and adding what others’ recommend. I recently noticed that some folks nominated for blog awards started posting a lot during the election but dropped back to rarely afterward. Huh, it doesn’t matter how wonderful you really are if you don’t post, eh? (Snowpea is Canadian and I got the eh from her.)

Another reason I ask is because I am trying to think how to improve Think On It. I don’t want to be weeded from people’s lists because I don’t offer anything worth reading or seeing.

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to April, QB. It will be the first time I have taught one of my readers and someone whom I read, too!
