From the garden right now

Squash flowers

These are the very flowers that appear fried in yesterday’s post.

Fagiolini

Ivano rang my door bell and offered me these. I instantly added some of them to my Asian noodle salad, just a bit blanched first. Do you ever think how sugary sweet green beans are when intensely fresh and barely cooked? Incredibile.

If everyday all year long could be like this and if gorgeous things walked out of the garden all year, I would think it was Paradise. Maybe it is.

Lovely veggies! My garden will only produce a lot of lettuce and tomatoes, next year I will try with butternut squash, my family loves it with pasta.

I’m jealous. We didn’t get much planted in our garden this year so I’m having to (gasp!) actually buy my produce. There’s nothing like fresh green bean salad, is there?

You need nicer neighbors! I was away in May. All I am growing are a few herbs stuck into pots and flower gardens. The rest is from the neighbors– clue: they have more —– insert word than they can handle. AND they don’t cook the flowers.

the best garden vegetables are tomatoes and potatoes, they look great and you can eat them too.:;.
