Florence: what shall I report on?

September 20th, 2007

From Saturday to Saturday I will be in Florence with eg. Camera in hand I am ready to show what I see. The Mercato Centrale, yes, and the San Leandro market, but what else do you want the fashion crazed cook to report on?

judith…if you find yourself on via del corso, could you snap a shot of s. maria de ricci? & if you amble down via del corso just a bit further…via del corso 31r…please take a shot of the beautiful windows filled with gioielli!

beyond that…any shots of the shoes & handbags will most definitely get me my firenze fix!

    buon viaggio!

Food…weird stuff at the market! Fashion…great new coats and jackets for fall. What am I missing from the Furla shop window?

Try and find some fab cheap eating places. You know the ones, where the menus aren’t translated and the food is soooo good and reasonably priced.

Have a good time. I hope it’s not too busy as it was when I last went.

Me too since I was there in July. We have an apartment, so I expect to cook some things from the Mercato Centrale — not horse or tripe. eg has definite limits, and I do too. I know some OK places, but getting away from tourists is harder than just finding menus that aren’t in Japanese.

This i am looking forward to. How do women really dress there? Style in Geneva doesnt really get very flashy. Whoops, kittens think that the water bowl is a swimming pool! lol, and they chew on the food bowl instead of the food itself. Must go mop up. Post photos of fab. women from Firenze!

Judith, please show photos of your apartment and explain where it is located. I\’d love to find it on my may. What is the size, features and supplies offered in this apartment? Cost? Perhaps next trip we will know enough to have an apartment with your cookbook. Like Gates who put Windows in all computers maybe you can get your book in every apartment.
Please share in detail your apartment experience.

I’ll report on all soon. Mostly on what wasn’t in Florence, on women or in the apartment. I couldn’t recommend the apartment to anyone who wasn’t an old hand at Italy because it was way out of the centro storico and had one saving grace– it was cheap. I was OK with it, mostly, but eg hated it.
