Ah, Anthony. Bit of a grandstander, but I love the guy. Kitchen Confidential was a book that certainly marked me. His shows are hit and miss sometimes, but he’s so likeable.

Hey, Snowpea! Nice to see you again. I have to agree with you regarding Anthony. MSTC introduced me to Kitchen Confidential, saying it was the most true to life thing he\’d ever read about what really happens in a kitchen.

Heya Lynne.

Yes, because of Bourdain, i refuse to go eat brunch and at buffets. The bit where they are high on coke and coming to the restaurant and recreating the Apocalypse Now napalm scene on the grills each night just cracked me up.

I hardly even remember the book! What I like is that he doesn’t seem to be running a popularity contest. He doesn’t pretend to be able to show people in 30 minutes something that take several hours. He hates those TV cooks who use packaged crap and call it cooking.
The only thing that bothers me is that posture with his arms always protecting his body. I found one photo without that, and in it he was lying down covered in slimy mud. It suggests insecurity, whereas his words never do.

Maybe he’s like my husband Peter, also a big man, who simply never knows what to do with his arms when being photographed!
