I am thinking this is the feel good Christmas movie for more than just me. “It’s a Wonderful Life” depressed me with the venality of the people, “Miracle on 34th Street” never rang true to me — maybe I’m a cynic.

I think it is the variety of love shown in “Love, Actually” and how it doesn’t always conquer all that I like. Plus it’s just darned funny at points.

That said, as in all her other movies, when Emma Thompson is on the screen, everybody else fades.
