A Hot Breakfast

Breakfast croissant

Anyone with an oven can make this. I went to a supermarket and bought a bag of ten frozen raw croissant. I followed directions by laying them on baking paper on a baking sheet and leaving them utterly alone, like Garbo, for 10 to 12 hours. When I looked again they were all fat and lovely, so I baked them at 220°C for 15 minutes then I shared them with my neighbors. We were all very happy to find we didn’t have to go to Paris to get a decent croissant. Not that we wouldn’t like to, but…

I have houseguests coming from countries that really eat breakfast, so I am doubly happy.

The freezer now has apple muffins, banana bread and croissants. With a nice wheel of Pecorino, a fire in the stove, a pot of coffee or tea, what more could they want?
