And sometimes it’s just lunch

Sometimes when I am cooking something I am also thinking about writing it and posting it here. Sometimes that works out. Sometimes I hit a period during which it never works out and it is only lunch. Today that’s ratatouille. Tasty, yes, but ugly.

So here is something better looking. It’s the prize for the name that kitchen tool contest. I know, that’s a long time ago, but my scanner/printer went sour and I wanted to get the image before sending it off. It’s an antique print showing a bridegroom of Loreto, le Marche, dressed for his sacrifice at the altar.

Neat! What era is this supposed to be?

I should think pretty ageless until you get to factory made clothing era. Peasants, even rich ones, weren’t much into fashion. There are some wonderful books out there (that cost tens of thousands) that show the traditional costumes of Italian countryfolk. There were literally hundreds of them, some very dramatic.
