Anatomy of a party

I’m having a party Saturday night that is meant to pass the longest night of the year as quickly as possible. I stole the idea from “The Kite Runner.” Everybody who comes must tell a story after dinner and before dessert, any kind of story and only 5 minutes or less in duration.

While I was shopping this morning I thought it would be fun to go through everything that goes into this party, even the shopping and what things cost, the decorating my small house, timetables and recipe garnering. I won’t foist the bathroom cleaning and vacuuming on you, but we all know that’s part of it.

This annual party is always foreign food and I always am making dishes that are new to me. I may have made one or two sometime in my life, but for the most part I will be just as challenged as anyone who makes one of my recipes. I’ve already started, so hang on… reports to follow shortly.

While we are waiting for the reports, I wanted to tell you that I did try one of your recipes. Had a dinner party last night for 9 and your tris of mousses in parmesan baskets were a complete hit. Thanks.

@casalba:

Fabulous! My neighbor Paola served them last Saturday night, too, and said it went well.

Can we come?

YES! But you will have to sit in the kitchen with me near the fireplace. There are no more places at the table.
