A pause for the weather

It was officially 40°C or 104°F in Florence yesterday.  Am I glad I went last week instead when it was a mere 98.6°?  You bet!  Here it was only 98.6, but inside a much more reasonable temperature, which I can’t tell you.  I think constantly checking the thermometer only makes things feel hotter or colder.

Houses like mine don’t get very hot if you pay attention to closing a shutter if the sun is coming into a window. I actually only close half a shutter in the afternoon and it’s enough.  If I do something hot in the house and defeat its natural cooling effect, I have a place to go that is never anything but cool and peaceful.  The river.  These photos are from Sunday, 16 August. This is at the foot of my garden.

Max, the hunter
This is my pal, Max, who hunts and catches little fish. He loves me merely for my river.

Shelly
This is my friend Shelly, who presumably likes me for more than the river, but loves the river, for sure.

Larry
This is Larry, reading in peace.

Riverbank

And this is what peace looks like on the hottest days of the year here at Ca’ del Suara.

You know, I checked especially to see comments were turned on and they were. When I came back they were closed. Do I have a poltergeist?

Oh, My! Hot or not, your’s is a most beautiful place! We have Max’s “twin”, Kassi…. who LIVES to play ball first, and swim second! She would LOVE to have her very own river! I won’t show her the pictures, she’d be trying to figure out how to fly next! LOL Thanks for the peak into your world!

I am so glad we were there a week ago Wednesday which was hot but not 40. It is so lovely and beautiful here in San Diego today that I am content–for a little while.

True, but one can do a Max in the river, too. I do in my awful rubber clogs.

So you have your own private little river do you, Judith?

Looks peaceful.

One of these fine days I will leave the noise of the city.

Hope August has been relaxing – sure looks as though it has!

Best,

Alex
